09/29/11 - AMERICAN CRAFTSMEN

At Taylor we strive to carry on the tradition of American made, quality constructed products and always appreciate finding others who can take claim to this philosophy as well. During our recent trip to Greenport, NY we came across a family of carpenters whose work perfectly exemplifies the idea of mastering your craft.
For 30 years Gary Loveless has been woodworking, taking on projects from custom built-ins to complete buildings that represent classic American architecture. He has has been doing so with the intention of his work lasting, and being admired for generations to come. During a time when the idea of getting things done quickly and cheaply reigns supreme, Gary and his sons Taber and Jared work together to blaze their own trail. Their philosophy is that if it’s going to be built, it should be done properly, only with the best materials, with a classic aesthetic, and in a way that will span the test of time.
The Loveless Family business is named Vector East Carpentry and they work on the eastern end of Long Island. Above are a few examples of recent projects. Pictured above, and perhaps one of their most striking accomplishments is a wine bar in Greenport called Vine, built from ground to roof by the hands of this expert family.
