12/28/11 - Diego Rivera at MoMA

Recently we visited the impressive Diego Rivera Exhibit at MoMA. Rivera was a prominent Mexican painter known for his large wall frescos created between 1922 and 1953 which helped establish the Mexican Mural Movement. He visited New York in the 1930's and was inspired by the social stratification of the city during the Great Depression.
The top area of the first painting (above) depicts Rivera's appreciation for New York's distinctive skyscraper architecture, the middle section shows a shelter for rows of sleeping men that represent the dispossessed labor force who made the extraordinary growth of the city possible, and the bottom section shows a bank's waiting room accommodating a guard, a clerk, and a trio of figures eager to inspect their mounting assets.
The painting in the middle, titled "Electric Power", shows the inner-workings of a power plant, it's machinery, and the manual labor needed to power the modern city of New York. The work captures Rivera's excitement at witnessing industrialization in the United States firsthand.
All of the works on view at MoMA are incredible and are very much worth the visit.
12/21/11 - Dominic Neitz Photography

The most striking element to our newly designed site is the photographic content it is comprised of. We've been working with Dominic Neitz since nearly the launch of Taylor Supply and he has done an amazing job of shooting our look books and our product. His ability to capture the feeling of Taylor has helped propel us to our current state and he continues to make beautiful images to compliment the products we offer. Above are several selections of Dom's nature photography from his portfolio.
If you're looking for a skilled photographer who can deliver solid work with minimal direction, Dom is your guy.

12/09/11 - OAK STREET BOOTMAKERS

We attended the Pop Up Flea last weekend and had a chance to meet the guys from Oak Street Bootmakers. In addition to being real nice guys, their boot and shoe selection was by far one of our favorite things represented at the show. We were able to snag a pair of the above limited edition green waxed leather Hunt Boots while we were there. These hand-crafted American made boots are solidly constructed with superior quality materials. They're the second pair we've gotten from Oak Street, the first of which wore-in beautifully so we know these will too. Plan on seeing these featured in our Spring/ Summer look book.
